Local policing authorities, as well as family members, community members and friends have, for the past few days, been frantically searching for the 16-year-old school girl, who failed to appear in school after being dropped off.
According to reports, the young lass, Momina-Rehman Sulimani, who lives at the Dar-ul-Uloom Complex on Taj Street, Laudium, with her parents, was dropped off by her transport at the PMT Sunni School on Tuesday morning, June 19.
Momina, a grade 10 pupil at the school, was left at the entrance of the school as per her usual routine, but it was later discovered that she was not in any of her classes that day.
The circumstances around a potential reason for her disappearance, have not yet surfaced. The young girl was last seen in her green PMT school uniform. Momina’s father, Mujibur Rehman of Sulimania Bakery on Tangerine Street, Laudium, appealed to members of the community who might have any information regarding his daughter’s whereabouts, to immediately contact the Laudium police.
Owner of Net Solutions, Shafiek Rahman, uncle to Momina told the Laudium Sun that no new information has reached the family regarding the whereabouts of his niece, since her disappearance, but he was adamant that she was not kidnapped. He also added that the family is praying for her safe return.
“We request everyone to pray for Momina's safe return home, especially for the ease of the family. It is so important for all parents to be more vigilant regarding the whereabouts of their children, as well as to ensure that your children are watched over when being dropped off at school.”
A board member of the PMT Sunni School, Ahmed Hasware (Pinky) told the Laudium Sun, “There were rumours that Momina was in contact with some of her classmates after she disappeared and also that she apparently had her passport with her. So, we arranged for the parents and learners of grade 10, to meet with the local police, so that the learners could understand the gravity of the situation and pass on any information to the police, relevant to the case, in the hope that Momina could be safely returned to her traumatised parents.
"Our prayers and thoughts are for the family and most importantly for Momina to come back home safely," Ahmed said.
Distressed father: Mujibur Rehman Sulimani appealed to the public to come forward with any information regarding Momina’s disappearance.
Missing since Tuesday morning (June 19), Momina Rehman Sulimani.
