Hijacked Golf recovered in Laudium - local arrested

A few hours after Wespark resident, Miles Hlatshwayo (36), was hijacked on his Bosbok Street driveway last Friday (November 24) at around 3:30pm, the Laudium SAPS, together with a tracker team, managed to track the stolen vehicle to Taj Street, Ext 2, in Laudium.

Speaking to the Laudium Sun, Taj Street resident, Viren Naidoo (21) said he noticed lots of frantic activity on his street at around 11pm on the same Friday and went outside to see what was happening.

"The Laudium SAPS managed to apprehend one suspected hijacker of the red Golf 6, but his accomplice just took off, running down Taj Street! After I got outside I learnt from one of the officers that the Golf that the thugs had been driving, was actually one that had been hijacked earlier that day, in Wespark!" Viren exclaimed in disbelief.

He added, "The tracker team and a police officer gave chase after the fleeing Coloured suspect, but he managed to get away. Shockingly, I recognized the suspect who was arrested, as being Osman Kajee, from Bengal Street.

I recognised the suspect because I had met him once before, through a mutual friend, when we had a chill session in Wespark.

I couldn't believe that he could be actually involved in something like this!" exclaimed the Unisa student.

The suspect, Osman Kajee (26), appeared in the Atteridgeville magistrate's court this past Monday (November 27), but the case was postponed to next week, pending Osman's ability to get legal representation. He is out on bail, as his address was confirmed by the investigating officers who did not object to bail.
