The inspiration for the annual Valentine’s Social, held in Laudium, was a heart-warming one indeed...it was our local seniors, of course.
The Laudium Care Services for the Aged (LCSA) held their annual Valentine's Social for the elderly, at the Agape Ministries Church, on Primrose Street, on Valentine's Day (Wednesday February 14). The golden folk look forward, every year, to celebrating Valentine’s Day in the company of their peers and this past Valentine’s Day saw our special seniors brought together by the LCSA, for a wonderful day to remember. Speaking to the Laudium Sun, Chairperson of the LCSA, Ahmed Arbee said that the day was filled with music, snacks, raffles and camaraderie. "It was a day that emphasized the value of love. I must add that our cultural values go deeper than the one-day Valentine's wonder, to remind us that love is the most important ingredient to conquer bitterness. Mother Teresa said, 'If your eyes are positive, you will love the world. But if your tongue is positive, the world will love you.' All the elderly in our community came together to spread the message of love and it was truly marvellous to see the bond that they have formed with each other," Ahmed concluded.
