The local cricket season got off to a winning start for the Laudium Cricket Clubs' (LCC) junior teams, with the under 13 team recording impressive back-to-back scores away from home.
This past weekend, Laudium's under 13s played Kavaliers A. Bowling first the Kavaliers were restricted to 62 all out. Hoosein Ebrahim and Arsh Patel both starting with the ball took 3 and 2 wickets respectively. Suliman Bhamjee scored 32 as Laudium won by 7 wickets. The under 9s claimed a commendable away draw against a strong Phobians team. Zakir Khan bowled superbly, taking 2 wickets in one over to tie the match. On February 10, the LCC under 9s were dominant on home soil defeating Sutherland by 106 runs. Zayan Hassim scored an impressive 62 out and Abdulla Nawab taking 3 wickets.
“The executive are proud of the performance of all the junior teams. Winning shows character, and the executives were pleased that these young ones are learning in the process. Laudium Cricket Club certainly has a bright future ahead,” said chairman, Ian Naidoo, and senior representatives Omar Ali and Mohammed Carim.
