Mum & Gran distraught after thieves nab car

Home is where the heart is and is generally supposed to be a space in which a mother feels both she and her family are safe, but such an assumption could not have been more wrong for one Laudium mother, who recently experienced an unexpected blow when her car was stolen from her very own front yard.

Shocked car theft victim, Feroza Mohammed of 11th Avenue, told the Laudium Sun that she left to attend a school meeting at Erasmia Primary at around 6pm this past Tuesday (March 14), when her life was turned upside down.

“It was still quite bright outside,” she said, adding, “I parked my car, a white Nissan Sentra, in front of our gate as usual and used another family vehicle to go to my son's school.  At about 6:20pm I received a frantic call from my mother saying someone had just driven off with my car. My poor mother ran out into the street shouting after the thieves. In the meanwhile, I immediately left the school grounds, calling our neighbours on the way, to chase after the thieves, but unfortunately these criminals were gone with my car,” Feroza said despondently.

The still visibly shaken mother continued: “I believe these hoodlums were watching our house and waited for me to leave. Now I don't feel safe in my own yard anymore. And what about my kids? With thieves running around, I'm not comfortable with them playing outside.”

The Laudium Police confirmed that a case of theft was opened and investigations are underway. Feroza pleaded, “If anyone happens to spot my missing vehicle (White Nissan Sentra Reg: CML133GP) please contact the Laudium Police or the Laudium Sun.”
