The Laudium Cricket Club's new season got off to an energetic start on Friday (January 19).
All this was thanks to the parents who took over the reins of the under 9s from coaches Charles and Given, who so tragically passed on, and who are sorely missed by all teams and the club as a whole.
Nonetheless, the games had to go on, and it took parents like coaches Ootren Naidoo and Asif Osman to steer the ship of the U9s squad and bring them to the next level of the second half of the league, of which the 1st games will be on January 27, 2018. These two parents and the rest of the U9 parents have really come together and shown remarkable support. This has given the boys so much of motivation and strength, and the Laudium Cricket Club is very grateful.
Chairperson, Ian Naidoo, couldn't sing enough praises for these coaches and parents. He emphasised how grateful and thankful everyone at Laudium Cricket was to these parents, and that they would be missed as they are leaving due to challenging circumstances. Just like the late coaches, these two dear parents, Ootren and Asif, will never be forgotten by the Laudium Cricket Club, and especially the U9 squad who has grown very fond of them.
Whilst the Laudium Cricket Club is facing some challenges, Chairperson Ian had this to say: "Laudium is going to have to wait for the Laudium Sun's next few editions!" But one thing he promised is that Laudium Cricket's future is looking good for both junior and senior teams. So, we will just have to wait and see what awaits Laudium Sun's next editions.
"The effort and time the parents have put in to nurture the talent of these young boys, has been special. The backbone of this club has always been the parents and we encourage all the parents to keep on supporting and believing," said Ian.
