Last Saturday, November 25, an enthralled audience at the Celtic Manor Clubhouse in Raslouw, Centurion, witnessed 12-year-old budding poetess, Imaan Suliman, launching her first book of poems. “A good book opens the world. You always have words and you're able to express your emotions when you read," the young Imaan said.
Her book of poems entitled, "The Fire Inside Me", was launched after months of hard work by the dedicated lass, who said that she "wanted to take poetry to the next level," adding that she had inherited the "amazing talent to write poetry" from her late father (Zain ‘Boots’), and hoped to be able to "write in his league, someday."
Speaking to the Laudium Sun, delighted mum, Farhana, said that she was so proud of Imaan for channelling her energy into releasing her book of poems and hopes her daughter serves as an inspiration to other young children.
"Despite the loss of her father in the last year, Imaan has levitated herself towards her love of poetry and even intends on publishing a novel soon," the proud mother added.
"I am glad that our community was able to share in the excitement of Imaan's first book launch and I am sure it is the first of many to come,” concluded Imaan’s elder sister, Zuleikha, excitedly. **The book was published by Tshwane Litho and Digital and officially went on sale the same Saturday after the launch. Copies of the book will soon be available in the Laudium area. Watch this space!
