As days after the sad passing of a young Laudium father turn into weeks, all those dear to Kinesh Padiachy, have still not come to terms with the great loss.
In remembrance, friends and family gathered at the Hillside Primary School Hall last Thursday evening (March 29) to share fond memories of 35-year-old Kinesh, who passed away under tragic circumstances, on Sunday, March 18.
“We often say that the hour of death cannot be forecast. When we say this, we imagine this hour would be in a distant future. We never thought we would be thinking about Kinesh as a memory,” said Principal Daya Chetty, the emcee for the evening.
“We all have different memories of Kinesh but one thing they all have in common is the way he loved and lived for his family. He had the most inspiring love for his family. Every time he shared one of his family stories, his eyes would light up with the most amazing shine. A shine that could never go unnoticed,” Daya said.
Amongst many other tributes, a moving eulogy to Kinesh was read by his friend, Marco Pillay, at the memorial:
“A mirror or reflection. I want the audience to see in their imagination what the life of Kinesh was all about. See Kinesh's whole person: his strengths, joys, challenges, achievements. Many admired him because of his gentle manners and the way he delicately spoke about others. Kinesh was never one to raise his voice or speak negatively about anybody. You never heard him gossip or belittle anyone. He could always be heard saying I am most humbly grateful for my daughter Tia, for my health, for just about anything, and he really meant it. Kinesh always welcomed me and treated me like part of the family. I am grateful for the time we spent together, and the laughter we shared, and look forward to the day we meet again friend.” Marco concluded.
A video featuring various photos of Kinesh, mostly with his daughter, was also shown at the memorial, bringing many tears to the eyes of those in attendance.
