The Lenasia community is in mourning after one of its own, community patroller and crime fighter, Rajan Reddy was shot to death on Friday, June 8.
Reddy was murdered at his Extension 13 home by an unknown suspect.
According to the Police's Captain Mpande Khoza, Reddy's daughter was dropping off a family member at his home when he was attacked by an unknown suspect who then fled on foot.
Although no suspects have been arrested as yet, police are adamant they will find the perpertrator and bring them to book.
Police appealed to anyone with information to come forward.
Police say the motive for the murder is unknown.
Lenasia Ward 9 Councillor, Kishore Badal, sent his condolences to the family.
"We sympathise with the family and the friends particularly the patrollers and pray that they receive the strength and courage to cope with this immense loss. We are extremely sorry and feel your loss," Kishore said.
"Lenasia is aggrieved and stunned at the killing of this gentle human being, who leaves behind his wife Sandra and children Jodesh and Janelle. Rajen sacrificed his nights, time and peace to assist in keeping his community safe."
