The South African Police Services is investigating a house robbery that occurred during the early hours of Tuesday, June 12, at a house in Lenasia South's Flamingo Street in Extension 1.
According to police reports, the family was held at gunpoint by three unknown persons who had gained access to their home shortly after midnight. The family was then taken into one of the bedrooms and had their arms bound with shoelaces.
The intruders demanded cash before ransacking the house. The thugs made off with goods that included five laptops, cellphones, tablets and jewellery worth hundreds of thousands of rand.
"We are appealing to the public to assist with information that will lead to the arrest of the criminals, by calling the Crime Stop number 086 001 0111 or by sending an anonymous tip-off to Crime Line on 32211. Such information may be rewarded. We're also making a special appeal to the members of the public to refrain from buying stolen goods as such conduct encourages the criminal elements to continue to terrorise law-abiding citizens. Furthermore, it is a criminal offence to buy stolen goods," said Lenasia South SAPS liaison officer, Khalipha Mvula.
