Parents feared for their children's safety after a video went viral showing a thug enter a Lenasia school and grab a learner's bag in a bid to lure her.
Recently, Greyville Primary School's CCTV cameras captured an unknown thug, wearing a black hoody, enter the school yard.
The video depicts the thug entering and exiting the school premises carrying a learner's bag.
The learner then runs after the unknown man
thug in a bid to retrieve her school bag.
According to a source, the thug deliberately took the girl's bag to entice her to chase him.
"(However), This clever girl ran back into the school and the thug suddenly disappeared," the source said.
According to Mr Francis, the headmaster of Greyville Primary, on the day of the incident learners were sent home early owing to a SADTU meeting.
"Pamphlets were distributed to transport drivers and parents making them aware that the learners be dismissed early.
"The learner had to wait four hours for her transport to arrive, by then all the other children had already gone home," said Francis.
Francis found it odd that the unknown thug was able to enter the school premises so easily.
"The learner's parents came to the school and they are holding the transport driver liable," Francis said.
